Tools that do one thing, run on your own machine, and do not ask you to create an account. What I make is finished rather than ongoing: you buy it once, it keeps working, and it does not stop working because a server somewhere was switched off.

Session Notes WindowsSpeech to text that never leaves your computer. Speak a client note and the words appear on your own machine, so session audio is never uploaded to anybody. Around it: appointments, standing weekly slots, and an encrypted written record in SOAP, DAP or BIRP.
Every transcription service works the same way: your audio goes to their servers. Otter, Rev, Word dictation, all of them. That is fine for a podcast and impossible for a therapy session, a legal interview or anything else that was said in confidence. So the people who would gain most from dictation are exactly the people who cannot use it.
My software ships the speech model inside the download, about 76 MB of it. The audio goes to a process on your own computer, comes back as text in a few seconds, and is discarded. It is never written to disk. There is nowhere for it to be sent, because the application has no networking code in it at all.
What comes back is a draft and the application says so. Speech to text gets names, numbers and the word "not" wrong, and those are the words that matter most in a record somebody may rely on later. It marks a dictated note as unchecked until you edit it. Anyone telling you their transcription is accurate enough to sign unread is selling something.
tmapp.org sends the automated email for my projects: receipts, download links, and account messages where a project has them. If you received a message from this domain and want to check it is genuine, this page is the domain it came from.
I do not send marketing email. If you follow me on Gumroad you get one message when a product ships and nothing else, and that is the only list there is.
